Tanzeel Student Management system went through a major update on August 27, 2021. We have been working on this update for quite some time. While a big chunk of the updates were related to admin functions; to help better serve our students and their families, the student dashboard and functionality also received some major updates. Below are some noteworthy ones:

Free Trial classes; No Credit Card required

We are excited to introduce a Free Trial class function on our system. The trial classes can be taken advantage of by any prospective students. The classes are booked for 30 minutes; actual class time is 25 minutes. Trial students are also allowed to reschedule their class ONCE as well as able to select a new class if they missed the first one.

New Price Plans for new enrolments

All new student enrolment; whether after a new trial class or current students adding new secondary users under their account, will have to pay according to the new Price plans. This has been announced about 4 months back and we are now live with the changes on the system. The new prices reflect our commitment to our teachers to give them a living wage. Cost of living in Egypt has more than quadrupled over the past 5 years and we need to look after our teachers. Tanzeel continues to have a non profit with 100% volunteer board and zero management fees. All proceeds from tuition go towards our Egypt staff and IT staff.

As of now, current students can only enrol new secondary users for full hour classes. Half hour class enrolment are not yet available to existing students. Only new students can enrol in half hour or full hour times at the new prices.

No fee increase for existing students

With the new update, there is no fee increase for existing students. Students enrolled before August 27, 2021 will continue to benefit from the lower price of $6.50 USD/class until further notice. We will give everyone a heads up at least one month in advance before increasing the prices – as we struggle to provide better wages for our teachers.

Parents are now able to enter children’s classroom from their account:

Previously parents were not able to enter their children’s account directly from the parental account. Some parents were having difficulty accessing children’s classes so we are now allowing parents to log into the child’s class from their account. Children can continue to enter classroom via their own accounts – and we recommend that they continue to do so.

If you are a parent who is not him/herself a student, you will see “Go to Class” button added on the dashboard – beside each child’s name/account details.

If you are a parent who is also a student with us, you will be able to use this function from “Secondary Users” page.

Quality Control: Consent to record classes

We have also introduced a consent function for Adult students and Parents. The consent is for automated & randomized class-recordings for quality control purposes. The recordings will NOT include any video/camera feed of student or teacher. We have spent a lot of time developing and testing this feature in order to ensure maximum privacy of our students and teachers. We take this matter very seriously as many of our female teachers generally wear Niqaab and they uncover their faces during the classes.

The recordings will be deleted automatically every 45 days once our Quality control staff reviews them; not all students or all classes will be recorded. Adult Students will receive a pop-up message like below:

Parents with Children can provide consent from their Profile page: My Profile > Manage Settings

Phone Number verification

We are constantly trying to improve communication with our students. In order to provide better support and services as well as to enhance security, we need all adult students and parents to provide their mobile phone numbers and verify them through a text message. You will be prompted to complete this task upon login. Select Country code from the dropdown on the left and enter number without country code on the field on the right.

In sha Allah, we will start making phone calls to new students and parents gradually as more and more students verify their phone numbers.

Improved Live Support via Facebook Messenger

We have now integrated Facebook Messenger to our Student Management system in order to better serve our students. We have support staff who will be online during class hours to provide live support. You don’t need to log into Facebook to start a chat.

The word ‘Qur’an is derived from qara’a, which means, ‘to read, to recite.  Qur’an would then be the verbal noun of qara’a, and thus translates as “ The recitation” or the “ The reading”. This is the most popular opinion, and the opinion held by At-Tabaree (d. 310 A.H)

Examples include the words of the Most High:

“ It is for Us to collect it and to give you the ability to recite it, And when We have

recited it to you, then follow its recital.  Then it is for Us to make clear to you. ”

{Soorat-ul-Qiyaamah: 17-19}

“ So when you want to recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaytaan, the

outcast.”

{Soorat-un-Nahl: 98}

The definition of the word  Qur’an

The  Qur’an is the arabic speech (kalaam) of Allah, which He revealed to Muhammad (saw) both in word and in meaning, and which has been preserved in the mus-hafs, and has reached us by mutawaatir transmissions, and is a challenge to mankind to produce something similar to it.

We can learn five important things about the Qur’an from this definition.

  1. The Arabic speech of Allah: The Qur’an is the speech of Allah, in Arabic.  This means that anything that is not Arabic is not the Qur’an.  You can not pray in English, in French, in Swahili, in Urdu–it has to be in Arabic.
  1. Revealed to the Prophet: We know that Allah revealed many revelations–including the Injeel and the Tawrah and the Zabur.  Those are also revelation of Allah–but they’re not the Qur’an.  Only what Allah revealed to the Prophet (saw) is Qur’an.
  1. Revealed in Word and Meaning: Not Only is the meaning of the Qur’an the same as what Allah meant; but the words themselves are also from Allah.  (Unlike Hadith Qudsi, where the meaning is from Allah, and the words are from the Prophet (saw))
  2. Mutawaatir: The Qur’an was related in a mutawaatir fashion–so many narrators narrated it, at every single step in the chain of narration, that it’s impossible that they all lied or made a mistake.
  1. A Challenge to Humankind: The Qur’an is an ongoing challenge to the human race–create a book, a surah, a verse like it; but nay, we will NEVER be able to.  Allah Himself says so.

One other important part of the definition of the Qur’an is that Allah promised that He will protect it, until the end of time–and that promise doesn’t apply to anything else (such as the sunnah, or the Hadith Qudsi).

There are two main types of written Arabic:

  1. Classical Arabic – the language of the Qur’an and classical literature. It differs from Modern Standard Arabic mainly in style and vocabulary, some of which is archaic. All Muslims are expected to recite the Qur’an in the original language, however many rely on translations in order to understand the text.
  2. Modern Standard Arabic (اللغة العربية الفصحى / al-luġatu l-ʿarabiyyatu l-fuṣḥā) – the universal language of the Arabic-speaking world which is understood by all Arabic speakers. It is the language of the vast majority of written material and of formal TV shows, lectures, etc.

Each Arabic speaking country or region also has its own variety of colloquial spoken Arabic. These colloquial varieties of Arabic appear in written form in some poetry, cartoons and comics, plays and personal letters. There are also translations of the bible into most varieties of colloquial Arabic.

Notable Features

  • Type of writing system: abjad
  • Direction of writing: words are written in horizontal lines from right to left, numerals are written from left to right
  • Number of letters: 28 (in Arabic) – some additional letters are used in Arabic when writing placenames or foreign words containing sounds which do not occur in Standard Arabic, such as /p/ or /g/. Additional letters are used when writing other languages.
  • Most letters change form depending on whether they appear at the beginning, middle or end of a word, or on their own.
  • Letters that can be joined are always joined in both hand-written and printed Arabic.
  • The long vowels /a:/, /i:/ and /u:/ are represented by the letters ‘alif, yā’ and wāw respectively.
  • Vowel diacritics, which are used to mark short vowels, and other special symbols appear only in the Qur’an. They are also used, though with less consistency, in other religious texts, in classical poetry, in books for children and foreign learners, and occasionally in complex texts to avoid ambiguity. Sometimes the diacritics are used for decorative purposes in book titles, letterheads, nameplates, etc.

To understand the true meaning of something we need to learn about that thing first, we need to gain all the relevant and authentic information about the specific thing we want to know about.  For example if we want to know about some place or some scientific discovery, what we need to do is to study the books which are written on that place or discovery, and collect all the information through various means. Book is the fundamental entity to get knowledge about something.  In the same way in Islam to gain the most authentic and most accurate knowledge about the religion, faith, society, life, nature and so, Qur’an is the ultimate source.

Qur’an not only provide the basic knowledge of the religion but it has all the information about each and every thing which a man needs to know about.  Therefore it is very important for every Muslim to learn Qur’an, not only to understand religion but to get himself a complete code of conduct about life.  Qur’an learning is an obligation for every Muslim; it must be the primary education a Muslim should get because there is no better education a man can get.  Qur’an teaches us about each and every aspect of human life.  It has solutions to all the problems of mankind.

Allah Almighty has communicated with his creature through his book so that the man may know about what is right and what is wrong.  Qur’an learning is a very noble act which every Muslim (man or woman) must perform.  It will give him knowledge, bring him near to his creator and will be a proof of his good deeds on the Day of Judgment.

The Prophet (saw) said: “I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them – they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah.” [Reported by Al-Haakim – Sahih].

And incentives were given too:

“The most superior among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Bukhari)

“Whoever is an expert in reciting the Holy Qur’an is with the Kiraman Katebeen and whoever reads the Qur’an with pauses and it is difficult for him, that is, his tongue does not move easily and he recites with difficulty for him there are two rewards.” ( Bukhari)

According to Bahiqi:

“O People of the Qur’an, do not make the Qur’an a pillow, that is do not be lazy and be careless, and read the Qur’an in the day and night like it is the Haqq of Recitation, and spread it, that is, read with good voices or do not take compensation for it, and whatever is in it, reflect upon it so that you may attain success, and do not hurry in its reward because the reward for it is great (which will be given in the Akhirah).”

Qur’an is still left ignored in our lives.  It is time to let go of ignorance and open it. All those things that worries us and we are busy healing them with sources that brings us no  benefit and are left with no time for Qur’an.  Allah mentioned  in Surah 17:82  “We send down in the Qur’an that which is healing and a mercy to those who believe; as for the evil-doers, it only increases their loss”

It is the best deal, just follow the book and fill your days reading and learning it and Allah will take care of the rest.  Just see how much is promised for those who follow:

“Whoever read the Qur’an and memorized it and believed its’ Halal to be Halal and its Haram to be Haram [i.e., accepted it commandments of Halal and Haraam], Allah will accept the intercession for such 10 people on from him whom Hell had already become Wajib.” (at-Tirmidhi)

So let us not ignore this book and deprive ourselves of all these bounties.  Lets strengthen our Everlasting Relation with Allah (swt) through this powerful Book.  May Allah bless every Muslim with the vision to know the importance of Qur’an and ability to learn it and teach it to others.
